Our 4 weeks India and Sri Lanka volunteer combo gives you the opportunity to experience these two countries while serving orphaned children in Delhi and Galle.

India is a country of great geographical diversity with every kind of landscape imaginable. India is the home of the sacred River Ganges and the majority of Himalayan foothills that dominate India's northern border. Similarly, Sri Lanka offers you many small miracles. White sandy beaches all around the island, lush tropical forests, tea plantations, exciting adventures, amazing wildlife, a rich heritage, Buddhist temples and the warm and welcoming people await you in the Island Sri Lanka. We invite you to come and enjoy. Serving needy children and traveling in these two beautiful countries will certainly leave you a life long memory.

Proposed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Delhi, transfer to Asia Horizon hostel.

Day 2: You will be given 1-2 hours orientation about project, host family, safety issues, and general rules of program. Transfer to project, introduction to project staff, host family and project work begins.

Day 2 – 12: volunteers will work in an orphanage in Delhi.

As a volunteer in orphanage project in India, you will contribute in the development and growth of some of the most deprived and neglected children in the world. You will help the local staff as they work with children and directly involve them in various skill-developing activities. Your commendable effort, contribution, teaching, love, care and inspiration for these underprivileged children will definitely enhance their knowledge, skill, perception, and experience thereby assisting to make their future success and radiant.

Working in an orphanage is a real rewarding job. You will work with small groups and may be asked to teach games, art, sports, and music and also escort the children to various activities. The orphanage centers run by our partners accommodate 50-70 boys and girls between the ages of 3 to 14. Although this is not an English teaching placement, you will have the opportunity to teach English during your stay in the orphanage. If you are skilled in sewing, painting, tailoring, crafting, typing, and computing, you can teach these skills to the children as well.

Day 13: Closing of India program, prepare for departure to Sri Lanka

Volunteers will go to Sri Lanka by flight (approximately 3 hour from Delhi to Colombo). From Colombo, you will travel to Galle (approximately 4 hours drive from Colombo).

Day 14: Departure for Sri Lanka. Arrive in Colombo and transfer to Galle

Day 15: Free day to explore Galle

Day 16-27: You will be given 1-2 hours orientation about project, host family, safety issues, and general rules of program. Transfer to project, introduction to project staff, host family and project work begins. For the next 12 days, volunteers will work in an orphanage in Sri Lanka.

Many people in Sri Lanka are still suffering from hunger and poverty. Many children are homeless and parentless due to the 20-year of civil war and destructive Tsunami of 2004. Asia Horizon is forging partnership with many orphanages in Galle and supporting these displaced, abused, abandoned and destitute orphans to provide a bright future and to protect them from the neglect and violence of miserable street life through mobilizing international volunteers. Your passion and motivation are of great importance to create a positive impact in the lives of these innocent children. Your helping hands, love, warmth and encouragement are crucial for them.

Day 28: Closing of program, farewell and departure.

Asia Horizon is extending more possible ways for our volunteers as:

1. Our volunteers can choose any project that we offer.
2. Volunteers can take one week of language and culture program for an additional cost.
3. Volunteers can extend the length of volunteering period in any country.
