Phase I: One-week Language Orientation and Cultural Immersion

One-week Language Orientation and Cultural Immersion in New Delhi
You will begin to explore the irresistible and incredible India from the dazzling city of Delhi. One-week language and culture program offers volunteers the opportunity to learn directly from India’s life experiences. Through this program, volunteers can learn about India by becoming familiar with the local language, culture and heritages of the land. Volunteers will learn to speak Hindi language by joining the language classes and understand the customs, culture and traditions that will practically helpful to you when living with the Indian host family. The seven days will give you sufficient time to take pleasure and explore the beautiful city and its latest developments.
Proposed Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome at Asia Horizon India office, orientation on general issues and discussions on the plan of a week.
Day 2: An Introduction to Indian history, culture, religions, traditions and customs. In the afternoon, Hindi language class begins.
Day 3: Hindi language class continues. In addition, volunteers learn about Indian geography, climates, and politics. In afternoon, Hindi language class continues using notes and other multimedia presentations followed by group discussion.
Day 4: New Delhi Sightseeing
Day 5: Hindi language class continues.
Day 6: Old Delhi Sightseeing
Day 7: Closing of language class, review and evaluation
Two-week volunteering program with the destitute children in orphanage
For two weeks, participants will work in an orphanage and contribute in the development and growth of some of the most deprived and neglected children in the world. The two weeks of village stay with host family is one of the biggest opportunities to observe the culture and traditions of India very closely. This type of chance is very rare in life that money cannot buy. You can tour around the village areas with your new friends who will help you to sharpen the language that you have recently learnt in their land.
Role of Volunteers in Orphanage
You will help the local staff as they work with children and directly involve them in various skill-developing activities and teaching English. Your commendable effort, contribution, teaching, love, care and inspiration for these underprivileged children will definitely enhance their knowledge, skill, perception, and experience thereby assisting to make their future success and radiant. You will work with small groups, teach games, art, sports and music, and escort the children to various activities. The orphanage centers run by our partners accommodate 50-70 boys and girls aged between 3 and 14.
Project Skills
No specific skills and qualifications are required. However, volunteers joining orphanage projects should have love and passion for serving poor kids. Volunteers should also be flexible, self-motivated with open mind to learn and serve to the people of new culture and religion.
Project Location
Our placements are located in Delhi. It is an international metropolis having a perfect amalgamation of New and Old Delhi each presenting appetizingly distinct experiences. Volunteers will explore ancient temples, captivating ancient monuments and magnificent museums. Spacious New Delhi was built as the imperial capital of India by the British and crowd and noisy Old Delhi served as the capital of Islamic India. You can enjoy visiting the dramatic Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Lotus temple, local bazaars and many more.
One-week India Exploration Tour
Explore India in seven days covering the major places of attractions in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Enjoy the diversity of dazzling Delhi (old and new) visiting old temples, mosques and most happening shopping malls. Visit the glorious monuments and the symbol of love, Taj Mahal in Agra. You will definitely be carried away by the pinkness of Jaipur, known world over as the Pink City. All the beautiful sights in these magnificent cities popularly known as Golden Triangle will surely give a memorable and worthy climax to your program in India.
Proposed itinerary of one-week Tour
Day 1: Delhi: Arrival at Delhi Hostel, Orientation about the tours and preparation.
Day 2: Delhi to Jaipur: Depart by car/bus to Jaipur-258 kms, 4 Hrs. drive approximately. Arrive Jaipur, check-in to the Hotel, and Choki Dhani Sightseeing in the evening; it’s a village designed for representation of Jaipur. Overnight Stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Jaipur: Morning tour of Amber Fort, the climb to the fort is on elephant back. Going ahead more sightseeing to the Pink City, Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal observatory. Overnight Stay at the hotel.
Day 4: Jaipur to Agra: Morning drive to Agra - 232 kms. 5 hrs drive approximately. En-route visiting Fatehpur Sikri. Arrive at Agra and check-in to the hotel. Overnight Stay in Agra.
Day 5: Agra Sightseeing: Morning visit to the Taj Mahal to view by sunrise, tour of Agra city, including Agra fort & itmad-ud-daulah's tomb. Afternoon drive to Delhi - 205 kms. 4 hrs drive. Approximately. Overnight stay at the hostel.
Day 6: Visit to Aksardham Temple: Visiting temples, holy garden, holy video, boating to know the fact of Indian history and lightening shows.
Day 7: Farewell and departure

Cancellation Policy
• Cancellation after acceptance and prior to placement confirmation – the deposit is forfeited
• Cancellation after confirmation of placement – 50% of the program fee is forfeited
• No Show or Early Departure from Program – If you notify Asia Horizon of a requested cancellation of a Project on or after the start of the Project Period, no refund whatsoever will be made to you under any conditions or for any reasons100% of the program fee is forfeited.
