Our two weeks mini-venture in Nepal is divided into three phases:

Phase I: One-day orientation and tour to Kathmandu valley.

Phase II: 10 days volunteering program with the destitute children in orphanage

Phase III: 4 days tour to explore Nepal

Sample Program Itinerary

Day 0: Welcome to Asia Horizon’s hostel, orientation about host family, host project, field conditions, safety issues, health precautions and others relevance topics. You will visit the most famous tourist, cultural, and religious sites in Nepal.

Day 1-10: For ten days, you will work in an orphanage and contribute in the development and growth of the most deprived and neglected children. When you work in an orphanage, you can make a great difference in the lives of the destitute children. Working in an orphanage gives you a wonderful opportunity to share your love, skills and energy with poor children. Your stay with host family is one of the greatest opportunities to observe the culture and traditions of Nepal very closely. During your free time, you can tour around with your new friends exploring the surrounding areas and local markets.

Volunteer’s Activities

As a volunteer, you will play major role as a big brother or sister to the children. You will help improve their education and welfare. Your main job will be teaching Basic English language to children. You are encouraged to help with homework, cooking, feeding, sanitation and their personal hygiene. In addition, you might also assist the local staff in administrative work where possible.

Project Skills Required

There are no specific requirements for working in orphanage. However, you must be at least 18 years old and should have knowledge of spoken English for volunteering. In addition, you should have genuine interest, love and passion for serving poor kids. You should also be flexible, committed to work, open minded and self-motivated to learn and serve to the people of new culture and religion.

Exploration tour to Chitwan

Day 11: Drive from Kathmandu to Chitwan (approximately 4 hrs drive). En- route to Chitwan for Royal Chitwan National Park, you will discover adventurous white water rafting and waves of the Trishuli River. Find the world's most thrilling whitewater. Both an adventure seeker as well as an amateur can enjoy it. The rafting trip begins at Charaudi and ends at the Kuringhat village.

Note: White water rafting may not be available during July and August because of flooding of the Trishuli River.

Day 12: Visit to Royal Chitwan National Park. Ride an elephant through dense forest in search of exotic birds, antelope, rhinos, crocodiles, and Bengal tigers. You will see elephant breeding center, experience elephant bath and canoeing.

Day 13: You will learn more about the local Tharu people through a visit to the Tharu village, the Tharu Museum, and a Tharu cultural dance program.

Day 14: After completing the 4 days tour to Chitwan, you will drive back to Kathmandu. Evaluation, farewell and departure.
