You will purely enjoy the times you spend in this captivating destination with Asia Horizon’s four weeks Summer Program in Nepal. Our 4 weeks Summer Program in Nepal is divided into three phases:
Phase I: One-week Language Orientation and Cultural Immersion
Phase II: Two-week volunteering program with the destitute children in orphanage
Phase III: One-week Annapurna Trekking
One-week Language and Culture Orientation
One-week language and culture program is conducted in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. You will be surprised to know that the Living Goddess lives in her abode in Kathmandu. Pagoda style temples and shrines greet you almost throughout the valley. It will be an enriching experience learning Nepali language and speaking it with your accents. You will take part in the lecture programs and keep yourself well informed about the country, the people, the rich history, culture and heritage. Most of our language courses are based on audio and video lessons and are designed so that volunteers can quickly learn basic Nepali phrases.
Proposed Itinerary
Day 1: Airport Arrival and Hotel/hostel transfer
Day 2: Orientation at Kathmandu office
Day 3-4: Nepali Language class continues
Day 5: Valley sightseeing: A guided tour of Katmandu Valley will introduce the cultural and religious heritage of Nepal. (Additional information will be provided by demonstration.) Visit splendid historic destinations in Katmandu Valley that are listed as World Heritage sites.
Day 6: Nepali language class continues
Day 7: Closing of Nepali language class, revision and evaluation
Two-week volunteering program with the destitute children in orphanage
Along with poverty, lack of education and parents’ ignorance has intensified the number of street children who are taking shelter in orphanages. The Government of Nepal has failed and is failing to protect the children’s fundamental rights and privileges. In such context, orphanages have been caring and educating such underprovided children. Asia Horizon is cooperating with children welfare centers and orphanages in Chitwan and Katmandu to rescue these children from a life of poverty and degradation. Each orphanage is caring for 20 to 30 underprivileged, vulnerable and needy children of the country.
Role of Volunteers in Orphanage
As a volunteer in orphanage project in Nepal, you will primarily assist to boost the knowledge, skill and competence of disadvantaged and poor children of the country. By serving the orphans in orphanages, you will be offering them a different perspective on life that they can carry into adulthood. The orphanage centers run by our partners accommodate 20-30 boys and girls between the ages of 3 to 15. You will have the opportunity to teach English during your stay in the orphanage and conduct creative programs including games, music, art, drawing, painting, health, nutrition, and sanitation.
Project Skills
No specific skills and qualifications are required. However, you must be at least 18 years of old. (Volunteers of 17 years of age can also work if they have authentic approval letter like of parents). Volunteers joining orphanage projects should have love and passion for serving poor kids. Volunteers should also be flexible, self-motivated with open mind to learn and serve to the people of new culture and religion.
Project Location
Kathmandu: Our orphanages are located nearby areas of Kathmandu. The capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu is also known as the city of temples and historically significant monuments. This is why the small city harbors more than half a dozen of ancient historical places and heritages, which are listed in World Heritage Site. Though small in size, the valley has topographical variation and cultural diversity. Besides, the apt temperature and climate of the city, which is neither too cold nor sizzling warmly, welcomes you.
Chitwan: The project location is 4 hours drive away from Kathmandu (170 Km). We are caring for 25 disadvantaged and poor children in the orphanage. Located in plain belt of the country, Chitwan is one of the most known tourism hubs in Nepal. One can enjoy the bliss of nature by traveling to another World Heritage Listed magnificent place known as Chitwan National Park. Elephant riding for Jungle Safari to witness one-horned Rhino and Bengal Tiger, Canoeing, Viewing sunrise and sunset, Bird watching, Tharu village walk and Cultural immersion programs are the attractions of the place. In addition, Chitwan is popularly known as the storehouse of corn as it is one of the most fertile lands of the country.
One-week Annapurna Trekking
This trek will take you to a grand experience. An unforgettable memory will set deep in your heart when you hike through the green and tranquil forests passing through simple village huts with the majestic mountains on your both sides. Pass through the awesome Thorang-La Pass, explore the magnificent Tilicho Lake and let your imagination flow with the alluring sight of Mt. Macchapuchhere. Annapurna trek is all about excitement and fascination that keeps on unfolding one after another.
Proposed Itinerary
Day 1: Fly or drive to get to Pokhara, another beautiful city of Nepal
Day 2: Two hours drive away from Pokhara is Birenthanti. You will begin your Annapurna trek from this point. Trek to Tikhe Dhunga through Bhurungi Khola
Day 3: Passing through the rhododendron forest (the national flower of Nepal), you will ascend towards Ulleri village and finally arrive in Ghorepani at 2855 m
Day 4: Trek towards a higher elevation and have lunch in Banthanti. Another three hours of walk will lead you to Ghandrung from where you can see a beautiful range of mountains from Annapurna South, to Gangapurna, to Macchapuchhere to much more.
Day 5: Ascend towards Landrung via Modi River and have luncheon at Tolkha. Within few hours you will reach Deurali and wrap up for the day in Pothana
Day 6: Walk down through Dhampus village and reach Phedi. Pokhara is one hour drive away from Phedi
Day 7: Fly or drive back to Kathmandu

Cancellation Policy
• Cancellation after acceptance and prior to placement confirmation – the deposit is forfeited
• Cancellation after confirmation of placement – 50% of the program fee is forfeited
• No Show or Early Departure from Program – If you notify Asia Horizon of a requested cancellation of a Project on or after the start of the Project Period, no refund whatsoever will be made to you under any conditions or for any reasons100% of the program fee is forfeited.
