Chitwan and Pokhara

DAY 01 : ARRIVAl in KATHMANDU

Arrival in Kathmandu. On arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu you will be met by our representatives. You will then board the waiting vehicle to be transferred to the hotel. City Maps and detailed itinerary will be handed over to you. On the way to your hotel, our representative will brief you on Nepal, general do's and don'ts and also explain your program in brief. Upon arrival at the hotel, you will be offered a welcome drink and shown to your room. Later our representative will brief in detail on your itinerary

Day 2: Sightseeing tour of KATHMANDU CITY

Sightseeing tour of Kathmandu consists of visiting below mentioned holy places of Kathmandu valley.

Kathmandu Durbar Square:

While browse around Katmandu Durbar Square you will visit Hanuman Dhoka, the old and historic palace of Kathmandu named after monkey God, Hanuman. It is historic seat of royalty. The Kings of Nepal are crowned and their coronations also held inside the court yard here. There is a statue of King Pratap Mall sitting on the stone pillar in the front and temple of Jagannath from mediaeval period .Within the walking distance you will find the tall temple of Taleju from 1549 AD, the large stone statue of Kal Bhairav, the God of destruction,. the Big Bell and Big Drum and Hindu Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati peeping from window. Visit the temple of Kumari, the residence of Living Goddess within the vicinity. Kumari means the virgin girl. The girl is selected from Buddhist family. The building has profusely carved wooden balconies and window screen. Next a very interesting temple is Kasthamandap which is believed to be built from a single tree trunk and the name Katmandu is derived from this temple.

Swayambhunath:

This is a 2500 years old stupa situated on a hillock about 77 m above the ground level and over looking Katmandu valley. The painted eyes on four sides represent the all seeing eyes of Buddha and are watching all the time wrong doers and good doers.This is a very religious shrine of Buddhists. There are two Buddhist monasteries within the complex and a temple of Haratima where both Buddhists and Hindus worship this temple. The shrine is just 3 km to the northwest of Kathmandu city.

Budhanilkantha:

This is a remarkable colossal stone statue of Hindu Lord Vishnu reclining on the bed of snakes is from 5th century AD situated about 8 km to the north of Katmandu at the base of Shivapuri hill.The shrine is in the middle of pond.

Pasupatinath:
This is a temple of Lord Shiva – Pasupatinath with two tiered golden roof and four silver doors situated five kilometer east of Kathmandu at the bank of Bagmati river. This is being a holy place of pilgrimage attracts tens of thousands of Hindu pilgrims every year in spring. At the bank of Bagmati river one can also observe the cremation taking place.

Bauddhanath:

This stupa is 6 km to the east of Kathmandu and is said built in 5th century AD. This ancient stupa is one of the biggest in the world and is ringed by Buddhist lamas and monasteries. This is a very holy stupa for Tibetan Buddhists who come here in thousands in winter festival to pay their tribute.

DAY 3: Drive to Chitwan (3hrs rafting on the way)

We take an early tourist bus to Chitwan. Hitting the Trisuli is the most convenlent means of experiencing Nepal’s river rafting, you have a combination of both which and scenic floats. The Trisuli river originates in Tibet and flows through the middle hill of the Mahabharat range. It is joined at Mugling by the river Marsyandi, flowing from the Annapurna range, ultimately flowing into the Narayani river which flows through the Royal Chitwan National Park in the Terai and eventually flows to the Ganges. Your raft ‘put-in-point’ is Fishling, along the Prithivi Highway. The crew prepares the raft and not long after, you are on your way hitting the first rapid immediately. Seven sets of fun filled rapid for the day. This trip lasts for 3 hrs a maximum.
We end our trip in Mungling and continue our journey to Chitwan National Park. It is about an hour and half drive. Arrive Chitwan and check-in at a Lodge.

Day 4 Chitwan National Park Jungle activities

Early morning wake-up call. After tea/coffee, we go for a jungle walk for bird watching. Return to the camp for breakfast. Leave again for canoe/boat ride on Rapti/Narayani river to witness crocodiles, Gharial and flesh eater Marsh Mugger, animals and birds. Return to the camp for lunch. Visit to Tharu ethnic village for cultural tour. Dinner & o/n at the lodge.

Day 5: Chitwan National Park Jungle activities

Enjoy elephant back safari in the jungle to witness wild animals in their natural habitat in the morning, (8 am -11 am). Return back to the camp for Lunch. After lunch, you can visit our elephant stables where the senior naturalists will give a talk about the habits of the elephants. Also a chance to see the elephant having a bath. Enjoy Tharu cultural dance program in the evening.

Day 6: Drive to Pokhara

Drive to Pokhara, 150 kms and it takes 6 hrs due to the road condition. Arrive Pokhara and Check-in at hotel.

Day 7: Sightseeing in Pokhara

Pokhara, the city itself offers quite a few places of interest for the casual and longer staying visitor. These are:-

Phewa Lake

Phewa Lake is the center of all attraction in Pokhara. It is the largest and most enchanting of three lakes that add to the resplendence of Pokhara. Here, one can sail or row a hired boat across the water of the lake or visit the island temple in the middle of the lake, The eastern shore, popularly know as Lakeside or Baidam, is the favorite haunt of all travelers restaurants, handicraft shops and other tourist facilities are located.

Barahi Temple

The Barahi temple is the most important monument in Pokhara. Built almost in the Center of Fewa Lake, this two-storied pagoda is dedicated to the boar manifestation of Ajima, the protector deity representing the female force of Shakti.

Devi’s Fall

Locally known as Patale Chango (Hell’s Falls) also know as Devins and Davids is a lovely Waterfall is about 2 km south West of Pokhara airport on the Siddhartha Highway. Legend has it that a trekker by the name of Davy, was washed away by the Padi Khola and mysteriously disappeared down into an underground passage beneath the fall.

Mahendra Cave

Another of nature’s wonders in Pokhara is the Mahendra gufa. This large limestone cave is locally known a s the House of Bats an apt name for it. A two- hours walk to the north of Pokhara, it is best to bring our own torch to see the stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the local winged residents.

Day 8: Drive back to Kathmandu

Early morning sunrise view at Sarangkot. Drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 9: Rest and preparation for departure

Day 10: Fly home
