| Environmental pollution and degradation is the main threat in Nepal. Asia Horizon has been working to create sustainable development by giving the Nepalese people new tools and hope for the future, we humbly ask for your support in this effort.
Project Informations
Due to the rapid degradation of forest and lack of awareness of community people on environmental issues, the ecological balance is worsening day by day. Flooding and pollution cause loss of property and health. ASIA HORIZON tackles environmental issues and has started a village-based nursery in Rampur, Chitwan. Our goal is to produce and distribute seedlings freely to the community people, who plant them. There has been a lot of good movements by the government and private sectors for keeping the country clean and green but still our country is being polluted.
ASIA HORIZON organizes several plantation programs in different part of Mangalpur Village and community forest. Our programs cover plantation on community forestland, village roadside plantation and plantation on school lands. ASIA HORIZON also organizes rubbish collection programs around the village and environmental awareness classes in schools to help clean up the community environment. We welcome dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers who are committed to environmental conservation.
Volunteer’s Activities
This project aims to support and help the conservation program. Our volunteers work in a nursery that produces varieties of plant species. Your activities include digging, sowing, weeding, trimming, pruning, seed collecting, irrigation, mulching, transplantation, clearing contaminated trees and other tasks depending on the season and demand of the nursery. Volunteers work with and assist local community members. In addition, you will teach environmental awareness issues in school and develop the environmental protection skills among the community people through training.

A typical lunch includes Dal, Bhat, Curry, Bread, and Pickle, Tea etc with occasional supplement of chicken or mutton. For your convenience, they will make continental and international food as well. If you want to have you meal outside then there are several best hotels and restaurants in the country where you can easily access and the food of your choice with reasonable price. During volunteers’ respective volunteering programs, a host family will be provided for their accommodation. You cannot expect a luxurious stay in Nepalese host family. However ASIA HORIZON arranges a separate room along with a communal bath for volunteers in both the host families and hostel accommodations. Sometimes you may share your room with other volunteers if the number is large. In the placement, volunteers are expected to assist household chores such as cleaning, washing, fetching, taking care of children and old persons. Besides, Nepali people are extremely hospitable, warm and welcoming and volunteers are well treated wherever they go.
